No. 47 M. Tennis Falls to No. 1 Virginia

Charlottesville, Va. - The No. 47 NC State men's tennis team took on the No. 1 team in the country, Virginia, losing 7-0 on Friday, April 9. The loss drops the Wolfpack to 13-10. The Cavaliers move to 28-1.
The Pack decided to mix around the doubles lineup again today. Akash Gujarati and Rob Lowe teamed up for the first time this year and produced a good result with an 8-6 upset victory against No. 58 Jarmere Jenkins and Lee Singer. It wasn't enough as the Pack couldn't capitalize on the other two matches. Dominic Hodgson and Frideric Prandecki lost to No. 11 Drew Courtney and Michael Shabez, 9-7. Virginia gained a 1-0 lead when Jaime Pulgar and Dave Thomson fell to No. 21 Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh, 8-6.
The Wolfpack had a tough draw, with all six Cavaliers players being ranked in the top 100. The first match of the day ended when Gujarati lost 6-1, 6-2 to No. 95 Barrick. Rafael Paez was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by No. 39 Jenkins. Virginia clinched the win after David Chermak fell to No. 77 Singer, 6-3, 6-1.
Hodgson was beaten 6-1, 7-6 (4) by No. 9 Singh. No. 70 Pulgar couldn't beat his second top-5 opponent of the year, losing to No. 3 Shabez 6-4, 6-4. D. Thomson went three sets against No. 53 Courtney, but fell short 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Pack will head over to Blacksburg to take on No. 23 Virginia Tech on Sunday, April 11 at noon.
