No. 47 M. Tennis Travels to Virginia

NC State Visits Virginia: No. 47 NC State travels to Virginia to take on No. 1 Virginia on Friday, April 9 at 3:00 pm and No. 23 Virginia Tech on Sunday, April 11 at noon.
The Series Versus Virginia: This will be the 53rd meeting between the Wolfpack and Cavaliers. The two met last year, with UVA winning 6-1. The Pack last beat the Cavaliers in 1999, winning 4-3.
The Series Versus Virginia Tech: This will be only the 14th meeting between the Wolfpack and Hokies. The two met last year with VT pulling out a 4-3 win. The Pack last beat the Hokies in 2007, winning 4-3.
Wolfpack Falls to Miami: The Pack couldn’t take advantage of winning the doubles point, and lost to the Hurricanes 5-2. No. 70 Jaime Pulgar got the lone singles victory, taking down No. 110 Carl Sundberg 7-6, 6-2.
Pack Can’t Get Past FSU: No. 22 FSU beat NC State 5-2 on Friday, April 2. Dominic Hodgson upset No. 40 Vahid Mirzadeh 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9). Dave Thomson also recorded a win.
Duke Tops Pack: No. 27 Duke took down the Wolfpack 6-1 on Wednesday, March 31. Dominic Hodgson upset No. 87 Dylan Arnould 6-3, 6-3 to get the Pack its lone point.
The Importance of the Doubles Point: In college tennis, winning the doubles point goes a long way toward winning the match. For NC State it’s no different. As the season progresses the Wolfpack are 10-2 when winning the doubles point and 3-7 when losing it. Over head coach Jon Choboy’s seven plus seasons in Raleigh, N.C. the Pack is 80-22 when the doubles point is won.
