RALEIGH, N.C. – One swing from Marisha Branson proved to be the difference as NC State lost a tough 1-0 pitchers duel to Maryland on Sunday, April 25 at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.
The loss moves the Wolfpack to 28-23 (9-9 ACC) on the year, while the Terrapins improve to 29-19 (7-10 ACC).
Lindsay Campana (17-9) was solid despite taking the loss, fanning six. Kendra Knight (11-9) got her second win in as many days.
Landon Warren singled to start the bottom of the first, but would wind up as the Pack’s lone base runner the rest of the way.
Branson touched Campana for the only run with a solo shot to right in the fourth, giving Maryland a 1-0 lead for good.
NC State will host Georgia Tech next weekend, May 1-2, at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.
