M. Tennis Matchup Set at ACC Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's tennis team has earned a No. 9 seed in the ACC Tournament, which runs from April 22-25 at the Cary Tennis Park. The Wolfpack will be taking on No. 8 seed Miami on Thursday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. in what is the first matchup of the day. At the same time women's tennis will be taking on Wake Forest.
NC State and Miami met earlier in the year, with the Hurricanes winning 5-2. The Wolfpack had won the doubles point, while Jaime Pulgar beat then No. 110 Carl Sundberg 7-6, 6-2. The Pack are looking for revenge after Miami pulled out a close match 4-3 in last year's ACC Tournament.
No. 67 Pulgar led NC State throughout the year and is currently 14-9 in singles play at the No. 1 spot and 6-5 in the ACC. Earlier in the season, Pulgar took down then No. 5 Guillermo Gomez, 6-4, 6-4 in what led to him being named ACC Player of the Week. Dominic Hodgson is 15-9 and 4-7 in the ACC in his first year in competition. Freshmen Dave Thomson and Rafael Paez have been solid with D. Thomson posting a 15-9 record and Paez going 11-9.
In doubles, the Pack has had multiple lineups during the season. Lately the lineups have been Hodgson and Frideric Prandecki at No. 1 doubles, Pulgar and D. Thomson at No. 2 doubles, and Akash Gujarati and Rob Lowe at No. 3 doubles.
The winner of the first round match will advance to the quarterfinal round to take on No. 1 Virginia on Friday, April 23 at 9:00 a.m. Tickets for the event are $14 for adults and $10 for students and youth for the complete championship and $7 for adults and $5 for students and youth for single day admission.
