Softball to Play at Campbell on Wednesday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will play two games at Campbell in nearby Buies Creek this Wednesday, March 10 beginning at 4 p.m. Live stats will be available via GoPack.com.
NC State has won all six of the previous meetings between the two programs. The two teams have not faced each other since April 18, 2007 at Campbell, when former Wolfpack hurler Abbie Sims tossed a perfect game.
The Pack went 3-1 this weekend to win the Wolfpack Challenge, topping Coastal Carolina (8-2), Stony Brook (9-3) and Longwood (7-1). Bridget Desbois, Landon Warren and Lindsay Campana were all named to the all-tournament team, with Desbois picking up tournament MVP honors after hitting .545 throughout the weekend and playing sensational defense at third base.
Campbell (2-12-1) lost five games this past weekend at the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge in Baton Rouge, La. Lauren Stephan leads the Camels at the plate with a .333 batting average, 15 hits, nine RBIs and three home runs. Amanda Miller has seven RBIs, and Katie Hinton has swiped five bases in as many chances.
Four Campbell pitchers have combined for a 4.48 ERA, with Christina Melton (1-4, 2.86 ERA, 36.2 IP) and Brittany Stanley (0-6, 5.75 ERA, 31.2 IP) working the brunt of innings in the circle.
NC State will head to the Winthrop/adidas Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C., this coming weekend.
