No. 46 M. Tennis Tops No. 33 Clemson 5-2

Raleigh, N.C. - The No. 46 NC State men's tennis team recorded its first ACC win of the year by beating No. 33 Clemson 5-2. The Wolfpack moves to 13-5 and 1-2 in the ACC, while the Tigers drop to 15-3 and 1-2 in the ACC.
For most college tennis teams, the doubles point is a good indicator of the match. For NC State it's no different. Fernando Banos and Frideric Prandecki were the first to finish, losing 8-6 to Moritz Dettinger and Zachary Rigsby. The Pack rebounded though as Dominic Hodgson and Rob Lowe defeated Derek DiFazio and Wes Moran 8-6. The doubles point was won when Jaime Pulgar and Dave Thomson beat Carlos Alvarez and Juan Bolona 8-5.
Halfway through singles the match was moved inside because of cold weather and a light rain, but it didn't affect the Wolfpack. D. Thomson took care of Moran 6-3, 6-1 to give the Pack a 2-0 lead. The Tigers earned a point when Kevin Galloway beat Lowe 6-1, 6-4. Hodgson increased the lead to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over DiFazio.
Pulgar sealed the victory with a 6-3, 6-1 trumping against Alvarez. Rafael Paez won his eighth match in a row, beating Rigsby 6-1, 6-3. Banos fell short to Bolona 6-4, 5-7, (10-6).
The Pack resumes play at home on Sunday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. against No. 29 Georgia Tech.
