Softball Drops Game Two to Virginia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State fell in the second game of a home ACC twin bill to Virginia Tech, 11-0, on Saturday, March 20. The Wolfpack moves to 16-13 (0-2 ACC) with the loss, while the Hokies jump to 9-16 (2-0 ACC).
Stephanie Call (5-3) suffered the loss, allowing one earned run in two innings of work. Morgan Peeler tossed one inning, while Linzy Rother got in two frames.
Jasmin Harrell (6-5) picked up the win for VT, while Ashton Ward hurled the final inning.
The Hokies staged a five-run second inning to take the lead for good. Kelsey Hensel drove an RBI single into center, and VT got a second run when Richelle McGarva reached on a two-out error at short with a runner on third. Courtney Liddle then added an RBI single, but McGarva was able to score as well on a fielding error in left. Ward finished the scoring with an RBI triple to right that hugged the line.
Hensel added two runs in the third with a double, and McGarva later plated another with a base hit into right.
VT put up three more in the fourth, as Graham singled, Cruz doubled and Hensel brought one in on a ground out.
NC State and Virginia Tech will wrap up the series tomorrow, Sunday, March 21 at 1 p.m.
