No. 40 W. Tennis Beats Winthrop 5-2

Charleston, S.C. - The No. 40 NC State women's tennis team concluded play in Charleston with a 5-2 victory over Winthrop. The Wolfpack won three matches in four days, including two against ranked teams.
The Pack began the day winning two out of three doubles matches. Lenka Hojckova and Tana Illova beat Yasmine Alkema and Elizaveta Zaytseva, 8-4. Berkeley Brock teamed with Chloe Smith for the first time this year and won 8-6 over Sara Abutovic and Lisa Wilkinson. Diana Mortlock and Daria Petrovic fell to Sandra Herrera and Giovanna Portiolli, 8-6.
In singles play, Hojckova took down Alkema, 6-2, 6-2. Brock continued her hot play with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Herrara. Petrovic beat Portiolli in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Illova battled with Wilkinson and came out on top 7-6 (4), 6-0. Smith was beaten by Paula Pereira, 6-0, 6-3. No. 64 Sandhya Nagaraj had to retire to to injury after being behind Zaytseva 5-2 in the first set.
The Wolfpack moves to 8-4 on the year. The Pack return home to take on Richmond on Wednesday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m.
