BUIES CREEK, N.C. – NC State shut out Campbell, 3-0, in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 10. The win pushes the Wolfpack to 13-9 on the year, while the Camels dip to 3-13-1.
Stephanie Call (4-1) won her third decision in a row, while Brittany Stanley (0-6) took the loss
The Pack quickly added a run in the top of the first. Landon Warren reached on an error at third and moved up two bags with some serious hustle on a single passed ball. Alyssa Allbritten then brought her in with an RBI grounder to short.
Breanna Andrews made it 2-0 Wolfpack with a sac-fly in the top of the second. Kristine Bechtholdt led off with a single and Toni Ann Williford followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Andrews then lifted a sac-fly to shallow right, giving Bechtholdt time to scamper in.
The Wolfpack padded its lead with a final run in the top of the sixth. Bechtholdt reached on an error at short, and Krystal Hawkins came in to run in her place. Hawkins quickly pilfered second and eventually scored on an Andrews single when the Camels attempted to get Williford in a run down between first and second.
NC State will return to action at the Winthrop/adidas Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C., March 12-14.
