Mother Nature Hits Pause on Softball Season Opener

MIAMI, Fla. – NC State softball’s season opening contest against No. 20 UMass was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning due to torrential downpour at the field and in the surrounding area. Play at the FIU Combat Classic will continue tomorrow.
The Pack’s game against UMass will resume on Sunday, following its previously scheduled contest against Illinois – Chicago. Tonight’s second scheduled game (vs. Florida International) will not be made up. Weather permitting, play will continue as previously scheduled tomorrow.
NC State was trailing UMass 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth when play was stopped. Lauren Peters is 2-for-2 at the plate.
