2/10/2010 12:00:00 AM | Cross Country
Jenkins, Andrews and Colley will run in the junior races, 8K for men and 6K for women. Jenkins was NC State’s No. 3 runner as a true freshmen 2009. Andrews and Colley will be redshirt-freshmen in 2010.
In addition, former Wolfpack standouts Bobby Mack, Stephen Furst and Julia Lucas will run in open races. Mack and Lucas both earned All-America honors at NC State, and Furst was a multiple-All-ACC performer. Furst currently serves as a volunteer assistant on the Wolfpack cross country staff, while Mack is a graduate assistant.
The top six finishers in each race will earn spots on the U.S. National Teams, which will compete in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships at Bydgoszcz, Poland, on March 28. Runners who finish seventh through 10th are usually considered alternates for the U.S. team should someone decline the invitation for any reason.
In addition to the IAAF Championships, the top six finishers in Saturday’s races also can qualify for the U.S. team that will compete in the NACAC Cross Country Championship, March 6 in Mt. Irvine, Tobago, Trinidad. Current NC State All-Americans Ryan Hill and Emily Pritt both ran in this event last year.
