RALEIGH, N.C. — The NC State men’s cross country team has been in the national rankings since the beginning of the 2010 season. This week, the women’s team joined them in the rankings, debuting at No. 23 in the latest rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll. The men are No. 13 for the second week in row.
Paced by consecutive individual victories by freshman Laura Hoer and strong performances from senior Kara McKenna, the women finished second at the season-opening Wolfpack Invitational, then took eighth at the Roy Griak Invitational a week later in Minneapolis, Minn.
The NC State men easily won the Wolfpack Invitational, then took second at the Griak Invitational behind top-10 performances from Ryan Hill and Andrew Colley.
