Men's Tennis Begins Play at ITA Carolinas

The NC State men’s tennis team got play started at the ITA Carolinas Regional on Thursday, Oct. 14, with two rounds of doubles action. Jaime Pulgar and Ivan Sanchez Gomez picked up wins in both the first and second rounds of action, while Dave Thomson and Sean Weber grabbed a decision of their own.
Pulgar and Sanchez Gomez topped Alejandro Espita and Andres Perez of NC Central, 8-3, in the first round before besting Furman’s Andrei Chvestov and Sawyer Duncan, 8-4 in the second. Thomson and Weber beat South Carolina’s Alexander Kostanov and Christopher Sheehan, 8-4, before falling in the second round.
Action will continue tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 15, with two more rounds of doubles and the opening bracket of singles.
