Women's Tennis Falls to No. 17 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The NC State women's tennis team lost to No. 17 Florida State, 6-1, in Tallahassee, Fla. on Sunday, April 5. Senior Neils Barringer was the only one to win her singles match, defeating the 98th-ranked Federica Suess in straight sets. With the loss, the Pack is now 4-15 (1-8 ACC) and the Seminoles improve to 12-6(5-4 ACC).
The Pack started the contest with singles, and the Seminoles won five of the six matches. Jessica Sutupira defeated sophomore Jackie Ussery, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6, and freshman Pender Sessoms fell to Ania Rynarzewska, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5.
Lauren Macfarlane took down junior Daria Petrovic, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3. Barringer won the Pack's lone point after defeating Suess, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4.
Junior Berkeley Brock, who entered the ITA rankings for the first time this season at 113, fell to 30th-ranked Noemie Scharle, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2. The 65th-ranked singles player, Katie Rybakova defeated 104th-ranked sophomore Lenka Hojckova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The Seminoles swept all three doubles matches to win the last point, making the final score 6-1.
