Softball Drops 1-0 Contest to No. 19 FSU

RALEIGH, N.C. An unearned run in the top of the third was all it took for No. 19 Florida State to top NC State, 1-0, in the second game of a doubleheader at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium on Saturday, April 18.
Mendy McKenzie (8-10) was hit with the loss, despite fanning six Seminoles and not allowing any earned runs. Terese Gober (21-8) got the win.
FSU forged ahead in the top of the third. Shayla Jackson singled to left, advanced to second on an error at third, and scored when Kaleigh Rafter drove a base hit into center.
Alyssa Allbritten led off the bottom of the seventh with a base hit, but a fielder’s choice followed by a double play ended any hope of a Wolfpack comeback.
NC State and Florida State will wrap up the series tomorrow, Sunday, April 19, with one final game at 12 noon. GoPack.com will carry live stats, while ACC Select will offer a live video broadcast online.
Seniors Mackenzie Mangum and Mendy McKenzie will be honored prior to the game as a part of the annual Senior Day festivities.
