CLEARWATER, Fla. South Florida slid past NC State, 2-1, in the Pack’s second game of the day at the USF Under Armour Invitational on Saturday, March 7. The win snaps a season-best five game winning streak. State now stands at 7-7, while South Florida moves to 16-10.
Hannah Ojeda went 1-for-2 with a run scored for the Wolfpack offense, while Mendy McKenzie (2-3) allowed just one earned run. Brittany Bowles (4-2) tossed the win for USF, while Kristen Gordon (1) got the save.
Britta Giddens put the Bulls up early in the top of the first with a two-out solo shot down the line in left and JoJo Medina made it 2-0 USF with an RBI single up the middle in the top of the fifth. Tara Toscano and Giddens placed back-to-back singles before Medina lined one up the middle.
