Wolfpack Women Secure No. 8 Seed at ACC Tourney

GREENSBORO, N.C. For a second-straight season NC State is the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament. The 2009 edition will begin Thursday, March 5, at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
The Wolfpack (13-16) will play ninth-seeded Wake Forst (18-10) on Thursday at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the league’s regional television package (RSN). The two teams tied with a 5-9 league slate, but NC State swept both regular seasons meetings - a 59-51 victory in Raleigh on February 12 and a 65-63 overtime win in Winston-Salem on February 17.
The winner of Thursday's game will move on to face No. 1 seed Maryland at 3 p.m., on Friday and will also be televised on RSN.
NC State has won all three previous games against Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament, but the two teams haven't met since 1991 when the tournament was held in Fayetteville, N.C.
The 32nd Annual tournament is set to tip-off at approximately 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 5, and will conclude with a 1 p.m. championship contest on Sunday, March 8. The title game as well as the semifinals showings will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net (FSN), while the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. games on Thursday, March 5, and Friday, March 6, will be televised on RSN.
