No. 40 Men's Tennis Takes on No. 39 Wisconsin

RALEIGH, N.C. The No. 40 NC State men’s tennis team travels to Madison, Wisc. on Saturday, Feb. 28 to take on No. 39 Wisconsin. The Wolfpack and the Badgers have faced off twice before, with the Pack winning the match last year, and Wisconsin defeating NC State in the teams’ first meeting in 2001. The Pack currently holds a 6-5 record, while the Badgers are 7-2 on the season.
Senior Jay Weinacker, who broke the overall singles win record last weekend against Charlotte, is ranked No. 89 in the ITA national rankings. Weinacker currently has 97 singles wins. Senior Christian Welte is not far behind with a No. 91 ranking and 85 career singles wins, the fourth most in school history. Weinacker and freshman Jaime Pulgar are also ranked in the doubles category, breaking into the list at No. 38.
Wisoncin has two ranked singles players and two doubles tandems in the rankings. Moritz Baumann is No. 36 and Marek Michalicka is No. 60. Together, Baumann and Michalicka make up the No. 18 doubles team, and Mike Muzkievicz and Luke Rassow-Kantor are No. 43 in the national doubles rankings.
