No. 62 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 21 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 62 NC State women's team fell to No. 21 Texas Christian, 6-1, on Saturday, Feb. 21, in Fort Worth, Texas. Freshman Diana Mortlock was the only Pack player to win her singles match. The Pack is now 1-7 on the season and TCU improves to 4-2 on the season.
Kayla Duncan and Katariina Tuohimaa took down Mortlock and senior Neils Barringer, 8-1, at No. 2, and Gaby Mastromarino and Maria Babanova earned the doubles point for TCU with an 8-2 win over freshman Pender Sessoms and sophomore Jackie Ussery at No. 3. Macall Harkins and Nina Munch-Soegaard defeated the No. 33 doubles tandem of junior Berkeley Brock and sophomore Lenka Hojckova, 8-6, at No. 1.
Idunn Hertzberg took down Pender Sessoms, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5, and Babanova defeated Ussery, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6. Duncan secured the win for TCU with a third set victory over Barringer, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2, at No. 3. Tuohimaa defeated Brock, 6-3, 7-6, and No. 123 Hojckova fell to No. 85 Harkins, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Mortlock won her singles match, 6-4, 6-2, over Mastromarino at No. 4.
The Pack will remain on the road next week as the team travels to Orlando, Fla. to take on Central Florida on Monday, March 2, and Florida International in Miami, Fla. on Wed. Mar 4.
