RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's tennis head coach Hans Olsen announced the signing of Joelle Kissell on Friday, Dec. 11. Hailing from Hostetter, Pa., Kissell joins fellow signee Christy Sipes for the fall of 2010.
"Joelle loves competition and she loves to get better everyday," said Olsen. "She is an aggressive, determined player who never gives up. Her positive attitude and work ethic will be a strong addition to our Wolfpack team."
Kissell is a five star recruit ranked No. 46 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net, and is considered the second best player in the state of Pennsylvania.
Success has followed Kissell for as long as she can remember. A few months before her freshman year in high school, Kissell teamed up with her older sister, Michaela, to win the USTA National Open Junior doubles title.
Kissell's high school accomplishments have been tremendous. In 2006 she won the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League doubles title with partner Ali Seranko. That same year the tandem won the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association doubles title. In 2008, Kissell added the WPIAL singles title and in 2009 the PIAA singles title.
"I'm so excited to be a part of the Wolfpack," said Kissell. "I look forward to next season. I know it will be a good one."
