GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State took part in the annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Media Day event on Monday. This year's "unofficial" tip-off to the season was held at the Greensboro Coliseum - site of this season's conference tournament held each year in early March.
First-year head coach Kellie Harper and senior guard Nikitta Gartrell met with local, regional and national media members for about an hour and a half, before a shooting contest took place on the court that was made up of student-athletes and the media.
Gartrell's team tied for the most points in the early session - thanks to a half-court shot by Gartrell to open up her team's one minute of shooting time.
The 2009-10 preseason standings were also released this morning by the ACC. The 45-member Blue Ribbon Panel selected NC State ninth in the 12-team league.
