Illova, Nagaraj Advance to Finals at BJK Invitational

In singles competition Sandhya Nagaraj continued her solid play with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Annie Houghton of Army. She will take on Nicole Bartnik of Columbia in the finals match of her bracket on Monday.
Tana Illova faced Jenny Lee of Brown, winning 6-3, 6-1. Tomorrow she will play against Lee's teammate, Julie Flanzer, in her bracket's finals match.
After winning her first two matches yesterday, Ashley Miller fell short to Jesse Alder of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-4. In the consolation singles bracket, Diana Mortlock beat Eliza Matache of Columbia, 6-1, 6-0. Her next opponent is Yulia Smirnova of Binghamton. Chloe Smith won by injury over Daniella DePaoli of Pennsylvania in her consolation match.
The duo of Lenka Hojckova and Nagaraj dominated their competition on the day in route to winning the finals match of their doubles bracket. In the first match, they defeated Kristin Norton and Samantha Rosekrans of Harvard, 8-3. Hojckova and Nagaraj then proceeded to beat Bianca Aboubakare and Casey Herzberg of Brown, 9-7. The teammates won their finals match because of an injury to Alex Kelleher and Olga Khymley of Boston College.
Miller and Mortlock lost a close contest to Carey Aboubakare and Misia Krasowski of Brown, 8-6. Moving on to the consolation bracket, the doubles team beat Tashya Blessington and Alexandra Pavlovic of LIU, 8-3.
In their first match on the day, Illova and Smith paired up against Christina Danosi and Julia Zak of Dartmouth, winning 8-4. Following the match, they were beaten, 8-2, by Sarah Lederhandler and Jessie Rhee of Yale.
Competition will conclude tomorrow.
