M. Tennis Completes Day One of Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, GA. Day one of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships completed in Athens, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 19. The NC State men's tennis team went 2-1 in singles competition in the round of 64. Senior Christian Welte, junior Frideric Prandecki, and freshman Akash Gujarati all competed.
Welte won his first match, 6-4, 6-1, over Eric Nobel of Davidson. Prandecki also defeated his opponent, Mario Guiterrez of Tennessee Tech, 6-2, 6-2. Gujarati fell to Terek Ben Soltane of Central Florida, 6-0, 6-1, in his first singles bout of the tournament.
Singles play will continue throughout the weekend, and Welte and Prandecki will be competing in their first doubles match Saturday morning.
