Bleakley Wins Singles Match at UVA Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - The NC State women's tennis team completed day one of the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. on Friday, Sept. 19. Multiple players competed in both doubles and singles competition. Senior Neils Barringer and freshman Diana Mortlock won their doubles match, and Kristen Bleakley grabbed a win in singles play. Competition will continue throughout the weekend, and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Barringer and Mortlock took down Ashley Miller and Suzanna Mansour (South Carolina), 9-8, in the first doubles match of the tournament. Junior Berkeley Brock and sophomore Lenka Hojckova fell to Gina Schofield and Natasa Vuckovic (South Carolina), 8-5, while Bleakley and freshman Pender Sessoms also lost to Jelena Rajic (South Carolina) and Valerie Behr (UNCG), 8-5.
Bleakley topped Behr, 6-4, 6-4, in her first singles match of the fall season. Brock fell to Ana Zubori (South Carolina), 6-3, 6-2, and Hojckova lost to Vuckovic, 7-5, 6-2. Mansour took down Barringer, 6-2, 6-1, and Ashley Miller (South Carolina) defeated Sessoms, 6-3, 6-1.
