Men's Tennis to Compete in Southern Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s tennis team will send three members to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga. The University of Georgia will host the event that will begin Friday, Sept. 19 and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 21. Senior Christian Welte, junior Frideric Prandecki, and freshman Akash Gujarati will compete in an event that will have 176 other participants from 32 different schools.
The tournament is divided into three singles and two doubles divisions. There will be a champion from each division, as well as two rounds of singles consolation. Play will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday.
Welte went 2-1 in singles competition, and 1-2 in doubles play last week at the Penn State Invite, and Prandecki went 0-3 in singles and 2-1 in doubles at the same event. Gujarati competed at the UNCW Collegiate Invite last weekend and took the top spot of his singles flight.
