Men's Tennis Wraps Up Penn State Invite

STATE COLLEGE, PA. - The NC State men's tennis team wrapped up the Penn State Invite in State College, Pa. on Sunday, Sept. 14 with six singles wins and two doubles victories. After taking on multiple other teams in the tournament, the Pack finished the weekend with matches against players from host Penn State.
Seniors Jay Weinacker and Christian Welte defeated Jason Lee and Ryan Gormley, 8-5, and junior Frideric Prandecki and sophomore Rob Lowe took down Eddie Bourchier and Jamie Cox, 9-8 (4). Senior Derek Stephens and freshman Jaime Pulgar fell to Guillaume St-Maurice and Brendan Lynch, 8-5, and sophomore David Chermak and redshirt freshman Julian Sullivan lost to Jake Toole and Chris Hasyn, 9-8 (3).
Weinacker continued his dominant singles play, beating Lynch, 7-5, 6-2, for his third win in the tournament. Welte also earned a victory over Lee, 7-6 (3), 6-4, and Stephens beat St-Maurice, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9). Pulgar took down Gormley, in the third set, 2-6, 7-6 (3), 1-0 (10-8), and Chermak defeated Hasyn, 6-3, 6-4. Lowe fell to Bourchier, 6-1, 6-2, and Prandecki lost to Cox, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0(10-6). Sullivan also earned a win over Toole in the third set, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5).
NC State will next compete at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. on Sept. 19-21.
