Men's Tennis' Gujarati Wins Singles Flight

WILMINGTON, N.C. - NC State men's tennis' freshman Akash Gujarati won his singles flight at the UNC Wilmington Collegiate Invitational with a win over Alex Wetherell of UNCW on Sunday, Sept. 14. Redshirt freshman Eric Turner also competed in the consolation match for his flight, but fell to Ilia Ziamtsou (UNCW). In doubles play, Gujarati, and partner David Masciorini of ECU, won their consolation match as well.
Gujarati defeated Wetherell, 6-2, 6-1, to win his first tournament for NC State. Turner fell to Ziamtsou, 6-2, 6-2. Gujarati and Masciorini took down Kevin Beard and Clark Howell (Elon), 8-6, to win the consolation match of their doubles flight.
The Pack will next compete in the Southern Intercollegiate tournament next weekend in Athens, Ga. Play will begin on Sept. 19 and continue until Sunday, Sept. 21.
