COLLEGE PARK, Md. Due to continued rain in the College Park area, two of Saturday’s four scheduled contests at the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship have been cancelled. With the wet weather, the championship will revert back to single-elimination format, knocking out Georgia Tech and Boston College, who dropped their opening games on Thursday. Maryland was eliminated on day one.
Saturday’s semifinals, between Virginia Tech and Florida State and North Carolina and NC State, respectively, will now be played at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with the championship final returning to its originally scheduled slot at 12 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
