#44 M. Tennis Travels to Sunshine State

The NC State men's tennis team, ranked No. 44 natonally by the ITA, will travel to the Sunshine State for a pair of matches again ACC foes this weekend. On Friday, April 4, NC State will be in Coral Gables to take on No. 27 Miami, before facing off against No. 9 Florida State in Tallahassee on Sunday, April 6.
The Wolfpack heads into the weekend with an 11-9 record overall and a 4-3 ACC mark. The Seminoles are 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the ACC, and will play Wake Forest on Friday before hosting the Pack. The Hurricanes ente the match at 9-6 overall and 2-4 in league play.
NC State had its four-match ACC win streak stopped with a 5-2 loss in Chapel Hill to the No. 10 North Carolina Tar Heels.
Derek Stephens leads NC State in league play with a perfect 7-0 mark in singles, including a three-set win at No. 5 against the Tar Heels.
James McGee, who has a 13-5 record and had won six straight singles matches, and nine of his last 10, lost his first ACC match to fall to 6-1 in singles against North Carolina. McGee is ranked #64 nationally in singles, a career-high for the sophomore.
Christian Welte and Jay Weinacker lead the team with 14 singles wins each, and lone senior Nick Cavaday is 11-6.
David Chermak rounds out the usual ACC lineup with a 7-6 record, including six wins at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Cavaday and Weinacker are ranked No. 9 nationally by the ITA and hold a record of 10-5, all at No. 1.
