Whittington Selected an All-America Regional Finalist

ATLANTA Khadijah Whittington of the NC State women’s basketball team was named a regional finalist for the 2008 State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team on Wednesday.
The senior forward, one of seven selections from Region 2, was a first team All-ACC selection this season as well as an All-Defensive Team member within the league.
Whittington leads NC State (18-12) into Monday’s second round WNIT game against either South Carolina or North Carolina A&T. Tip off is scheduled for 7 pm at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Roanoke, Va., native has had an incredible final year with the Wolfpack averaging 17.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, while also coming up with 73 steals and 50 blocks. All her numbers rank among the national leaders.
The State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team selection committee will review the 52 candidates and cut the list to 40 finalists on Thursday, March 20. The 40 finalists will all be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.
The All-America team will be announced on April 5.
