#30 M. Tennis Clipped by #56 Indiana, 4-3

NC State men's tennis took the doubles point in impressive fashion, but couldn't close the door in singles, falling 4-3 to No. 56 Indiana on Sunday. The No. 30 Wolfpack (6-4) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles but the Hoosiers (9-2) lost just one set at singles No. 3 to No. 6.
Jay Weinacker and James McGee both completed a perfect weekend with wins in singles and doubles for the second straight match.
Weinacker and Nick Cavaday, ranked No. 9 nationally, blanked the No. 1 duo from Indiana with an 8-0 win. The Pack duo improved to 6-1 overall.
McGee and Christian Welte won at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point, 8-4. They improved to 5-1 on the season at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
In singles play, McGee gave NC state a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles. McGee is now 5-3 at the top spot in the lineup this season and 6-3 overall.
The Hoosiers then reeled off wins at No. 4, 3 and 6 singles to grab a 3-2 lead.
Welte won his first set at No. 5, then fell 6-1, 6-3 to give the team win to Indiana.
Weinacker would close out the day with a 6-4, 6-1, triumph at No. 2 and move his singles record to 8-2 on the year.
NC State will travel to Winston-Salem to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Wednesday, Mar. 5.
