The NC State men's tennis team will travel to the Blue Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala. March 13-16. The No. 49 Wolfpack (6-5, 0-1 ACC) will open against No. 30 Notre Dame at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 13. The winner of that match will face either No. 8 Tulsa or No. 60 William & Mary on Friday.
Five of the 16 teams in the field are ranked in the top-25 of the ITA team rankings. All but one team is ranked in the top-65 nationally.
NC State is lead in singles by the strong play of Jay Weinacker and Christian Welte, who both sport team-leading records of 8-3.
James McGee, ranked No. 104 nationally by the ITA, is close behind with a 7-3 overall record, including a 6-3 mark at No. 1 singles.
Senior Nick Cavaday has had another solid campaign so far, posting a 6-4 mark at the top-3 singles spots this season.
Cavaday, McGee and Derek Stephens are all 1-0 in the ACC after wins in the ACC opener a week ago against No. 20 Wake Forest.
