No. 26 M. Tennis Falls to No. 35 Vanderbilt

The No. 26 NC State men's tennis team fell to 4-3 on the season after a 5-2 loss to No. 35 Vanderbilt in Ann Arbor, Mich.. All three of the Wolfpack's losses this season have been to ranked teams, including two on the road. James McGee won at No. 1 singles and NC State won the doubles point for its two points in the match.
NC State dropped its second straight contest after a 6-1 setback at No. 18 Michigan on Friday.
Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker combined at No. 1 doubles to win 8-4 to clinch the doubles point. The duo is ranked No. 16 nationally and is 3-1 on the season. McGee and Christian Welte won at No. 2, 8-5, to help give NC State an early 1-0 lead in the match.
NC State would win just one of the six singles matches, however, as McGee improved to 3-2 at No. 1 singles this season with his straight sets win over Ryan Preston.
Welte lost his first match of the season after starting 6-0. He fell at No. 4 singles to Bryant Salcedo, 6-2, 6-2.
NC State continues its road swing after a week off with a trip to No. 43 Old Dominion on Feb. 24.
