XC Teams Earn All-Academic Status

A day after having five cross country runners, four men and one woman, NC State’s men’s and women’s cross country teams both were named All-Academic Teams by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The NC State men, with an NCAA Division-leading four runners earning individual All-Academic honors, posted a 3.30 GPA. Graduating seniors Chris Kollar, Stephen Furst, John Crews and Tibor Vegh all earned individual All-Academic honors, and Furst, Crews and Vegh also won NCAA Postgraduate scholarships.
The NC State women’s cross country team earned All-Academic honors with a 3.10 GPA. Rising senior Brittany Tinsley earned individual All-Academic honors.
To earn All-Academic status, a team must maintain a cumulative 3.00 grade-point average for all runners who use a year of eligibility, compete in the NCAA Regionals and have at least five runners finish the race. Since the USTFCCCA began its team All-Academic honors 11 years ago, NC State’s men, women or both have been named All-Academic all 11 years.
