Kollar Named ACC Scholar-Athlete for XCC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State senior Chris Kollar has been named as the 2007 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's cross country, Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today.
The Scholar Athlete Award was established this past September to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sport. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 during the last two semesters.
Kollar, a Biological Sciences and Chemistry major, was the ACC individual men's cross country champion this past fall, finishing the 8k course in 24:02.1 - more than six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. A three-time Academic All-American and a member of the ACC Honor Roll in each of the past four years, Kollar also placed 11th in leading the Wolfpack to the Southeast Regional team title back in November.
The Strongville, Ohio, product earned All-ACC Cross Country honors as a senior in 2007 and has been a member of the ACC All-Academic Cross Country Team in each of the past two years. A three-time All-Southeast Region Cross Country Team selection, Kollar was one of four Wolfpack cross country members named this week to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
