Four Men Named to 2007 All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. Four NC State men's cross country runners were named to the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Cross Country Team. Overall in the ACC, seven All-Conference honorees secured spots as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Chris Kollar, John Crews, Stephen Furst and Wesley Smith were all named to the team for the Wolfpack.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Student-athletes earning All-ACC honors this past fall were Boston College’s Patrick Mellea, Duke’s Bo Waggoner, NC State’s John Crews, Chris Kollar and Wesley Smith, Virginia’s Emil Heineking and Virginia Tech’s Paul LaPenna. Kollar captured individual honors at this year’s ACC Championship while Virginia’s Heineking was fourth and earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors.
Repeaters from last year’s academic team include Clemson’s Sam Bryfczynski, Georgia Tech’s David Herren, NC State’s Chris Kollar, Virginia’s Andrew Jesien and Taylor Smith, Virginia Tech’s Paul LaPenna, and Wake Forest’s John Compton.
