Clemson Fends Off Women's Soccer, 3-0

CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson scored twice in the first half and converted a penalty kick in the second half for a 3-0 win over the NC State women’s soccer team Thursday evening from Riggs Field.

With the victory, Clemson is now 5-5-1 on the season and improves to 1-2-1 in ACC action, while NC State falls to 8-6 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Molly Johnson and Katie Vogel scored for the Tigers in a two-minute span midway through the first half that led the home team to take a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

Molly Franklin scored off a penalty kick in the 77th minute to make it 3-0.

Wolfpack keeper Rachel Barnette had a busy night in net, making 10 saves.

Lindsay Vera had three of NC State’s six shots.

The Wolfpack returns home to host Boston College Sunday at 1 p.m. at NC State Soccer Stadium.
