Men's Tennis Wraps Up UNCW Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. The NC State men’s tennis had a successful weekend in Wilmington, N.C. on Oct. 24-26. Sophomore Rob Lowe, redshirt freshman Eric Turner, and freshman Akash Gujarati each advanced to the quarterfinals in singles, and Lowe and Turner advanced to the semifinals in doubles play.
Lowe and Turner defeated Nicolai Nonnenbroich and Jonas Brobeck of UNC Asheville, 8-5, and then took down Paollielo and Anton of Belmont University, 8-5. The duo fell to Nolan and Kreutzer of Boston College, 8-5 in the semifinals.
Gujarati overpowered Rafael Altmeyer of Gardner-Webb, 6-3, 6-0, but then fell to Nandor Solymosi of Lees-McRae College, 6-3, 7-5. In the consolation match, Gujarati took down Erik Kreutzer of Boston College, 0-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-7).
Turner defeated Jaroslav Horvath of East Carolina, 6-4, 6-3, but then fell to Wes Kilani of South Florida, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(10-7). In his consolation match, Turner lost to Thomas Nolan of Boston College, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0(10-5).
Lowe beat Stuart Robertson of Wofford, 6-4, 7-6(4), but then lost to Michael Pereira of UNC Wilmington, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(10-1). In the consolation round, Lowe took down Brian Locklear of Boston College, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-3).
