No. 20 M. Tennis Hosts Pair of Top-35 Foes

The 20th-ranked NC State men's tennis team will host a pair of ranked foes this weekend at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Wolfpack (3-0) will host No. 32 Rice (0-1) on Friday at noon and No. 27 Wisconsin (4-0) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
The Pack opened its season with a tripleheader on the Jan. 19th, beating High Point (6-1), Davidson (7-0) and UNC Greensboro (7-0). Jay Weinacker and Christian Welte are both 3-0 in singles to lead the team. Five other players won a pair of tennis matches, and the only loss was when David Rozek had to withdraw with an injury while up a set against High Point.
Nick Cavaday and Weinacker are ranked No. 16 in doubles after a strong fall season, although the duo has yet to play together in the first three dual matches.
The pair of home matches are the only two at home for the Pack for the next month before Navy and Indiana visit Raleigh March 1 and 2.
Scouting The Rice Owls:
The Rice Owls are ranked No. 32 in the ITA rankings ... The Owls lost to South Florida, 5-2, in Tampa in its opening match of the season ... The scheduled conference match with Central Florida was postponed because of rain ... Rice has a pair of ranked singles players in Christoph Mller (#34) and Ralph Knupfer (#45).
Scouting The Wisconsin Badgers:
The Wisconsin Badgers are 4-0 on the season and ranked No. 27 by the ITA ... The Badgers picked up home wins against UW-Green Bay, Butler, Northern Illinois and UW-Whitewater ... Wisconsin is led in singles by Moritz Baumann who is ranked No. 39 by the ITA ... The Badgers have a pair of ranked doubles teams at No. 26 and No. 42 nationally.
