Khadijah Whittington and Shayla Fields are logging the most minutes per game in the ACC. Whittington tops the league at 33.89 minutes, while Fields is punching in 33.83 minutes per contest. Fields has played all 40 minutes in each of the three ACC games and six total contests this season, Whittington has gone the distance on five occasions.
Zullo Finally Visits the Free Throw Line
It took red-shirt freshman guard Megan Zullo 540 minutes into her career, spanning two seasons, to finally go to the free throw line. In the 25th game of her career, she converted both attempts from the stripe.
Shayla Fields Becomes Steady Second Option
Junior Shayla Fields has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games. She has led the team in scoring each of the last four games, averaging 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
A Revolving Starting Five
After using the same starting lineup the first 15 games of the year, NC State has been forced to use a different lineup each of the past three games due to a rash of injuries over the last three weeks. Chanita Jordan scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in her starting debut at Boston College (1/6). Jordan has averaged 9.2 points on 66.7 percent (18-27) shooting and 4.8 rebounds over the last four games. Sharnise Beal made her first start against North Carolina (1/13) and responded with nine points and four rebounds. She has averaged 8.8 points and 4.3 boards in the past six games. Megan Zullo was re-inserted into the starting five Thursday against Georgia Tech (1/17) after Nikitta Gartrell turned an ankle in practice on Tuesday.
Gartrell Flourishing in Second Year with Pack
There hasn't been a sophomore slump for shooting guard Nikitta Gartrell. The Atlanta, Ga., native is third on the club with 9.1 points per game, leads all guards on the team with 4.2 rebounds and is second on the club with 2.9 assists per game. Gartrell has scored in double figures 10 times in 18 games (17 starts).
Tia Bell Arrives on the Scene
After playing 40 minutes the entire season and scoring only one point, freshman Tia Bell played 17 minutes against North Carolina and set season-highs with six points and seven rebounds. She followed that up with seven rebounds and a team-best four blocks against Georgia Tech.
