Head coach Jon Choboy has added valuable experience to his staff with the addition of Scott Briggs as a volunteer assistant. Briggs was a former associate head coach and interim head coach at Davidson, where he played collegiate tennis from 1995-1999.
“Scott brings a wealth of experience to our program and we are grateful to have him as a part of our men’s tennis program,” head coach Jon Choboy said. “He will be a tremendous asset to our program in helping us achieve our team goals of an ACC and NCAA Championship.”
Briggs spent 2006-2007 with the nationally-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons as a volunteer assistant after six seasons with the men’s and women’s programs at Davidson.
He was the associate head coach of the Wildcat’s men’s program during the 2005-2006 season and was the interim head coach of the women’s squad in the spring of 2005. Briggs was the Wildcat’s assistant men’s tennis coach since 2000 after ending his standout career.
A two-time captain and MVP, Briggs earned first-team All-Southern conference honors in 1997 and 1999 and was the Southern Conference Doubles Champion in 1997. Briggs also helped his squad capture the 1997 regular season Southern Conference Championship.
A native of Winter Haven, Florida, Briggs is married to the former Megan Suzanne Shafer of Miami, Fla.
