Men's Tennis Continues Play at Tournaments

Members of the Wolfpack men's tennis team continued their play at two tournaments today, Saturday, Sept. 22. Freshman Eric Turner and senior Daniel Schinke competed at the Tar Heel Invite in Chapel Hill, N.C., and junior Christian Welte, sophomore Frideric Prandecki, and senior Derek Stephens participated at the Southern Collegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
In Chapel Hill, Turner fell in his first match of the day against UNC's Taylor Fogleman, 6-2, 6-3. In his consolation match versus Davy Som of Campbell, Turner was down 5-0 in the first set before having to retire for the day. Schinke took down Richmond's Will Minter, 6-4, 6-2, before falling to Henrik Skalmerud from ECU, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In the round of 32 in Athens, Stephens fell to Tennessee's Davey Sandgren, 6-2, 6-1. In his consolation match against Florida's Tyler Hochwalt, Stephens was taken down 6-2, 6-4. Welte won his consolation match of the day 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, over USA's Aaron Krisan.
Play will continue tomorrow as Welte takes on Wofford's Paul Barholomy and Prandecki takes on Memphis's Michael Goerthoeffner in their consolation matches.
