Goring Invited to Attend 2007 WNBA Draft

Cleveland, Ohio – NC State senior center Gillian Goring is one of twenty-two of the top women’s basketball prospects from around the world that have been invited and will attend the 2007 WNBA Draft presented by adidas on Wednesday, April 4.

The list is highlighted by familiar Atlantic Coast Conference names, including the aforementioned Goring, along with Duke’s Lindsey Harding and Allison Bales, North Carolina’s Ivory Latta and Camille Little, Maryland’s Shay Doron, Boston College’s Kathrin Ress and Virginia Tech’s Nare Diawara.

Earlier this week, Goring took part in the WNBA’s Pre-Draft Camp at Cleveland State University on March 30-31. The camp offered coaches and general managers from all 13 WNBA teams an opportunity to evaluate over 50 of the top young players in advance of Wednesday’s draft. The prospects showcased their skills and competed against one another in drills, half court scenarios and full court scrimmages during three on-court sessions.

Goring averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds this season in helping lead NC State (25-9) to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament this season.

Goring was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention after averaging 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in ACC play, leading the Pack to a 10-4 conference record.

Goring had eight double-doubles on the year and scored in double figures in 13 of the last 18 games of the season.

The Draft will cap off a week-long celebration of events surrounding womens’ basketball in Cleveland. The Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland’s Public Square will host the Draft, beginning at 1 pm ET. ESPN2 will provide live first-round coverage while ESPNU and NBATV will provide continued live coverage of the second and third rounds from 2-3:30 p.m. In addition, WNBA.com will cover all three rounds, providing complete analysis and comprehensive information on all 13 team’s selections.
