No. 43 Women's Tennis Downs No. 40 SMU

No. 43 NC State women's tennis team defeated its second ranked opponent of the weekend with a win over No. 40 Southern Methodist on Sunday in Dallas, Texas. The Wolfpack won the doubles point and took three of its four singles wins in straight sets. NC State previously defeated No.69 Rice on Friday, 5-2, in Houston, Texas for the start of the road trip.
The Wolfpack again won the doubles point, this time getting wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the early lead. Julia Roach and Kate Green won at No. 2 and Berkeley Brock and Catherine Grotz were victorious at No. 3.
Julia Roach wasted no time pushing NC State to a 2-0 lead as she defeated Kristen Reid at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1, to remain undefeated in singles this season.
Grotz fell at No. 2 as the Mustangs pulled within 2-1, but Daria Petrovic, ranked No. 43 in singles nationally, pushed the Pack's lead to 3-1 with a win at No. 1 singles.
Green would seal the match with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles.
Alejandra Guerra won her match in three sets after winning the first set in a 10-8 tiebreak. After losing the second set, 6-3, she finished the match in a 10-point tiebreak win, 1-0 (10-4).
Berkeley Brock lost at No. 3 singles in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, in the final match of the day.
