No. 35 Pack Puts Away Spartans, 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 35 Wolfpack men’s tennis team downed UNC Greensboro, 7-0, in the second of two matches on the day at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus in Raleigh, N.C. The red and white grabbed all three doubles matches before collecting all six singles decisions. With the win, the Pack moves to 8-0 on the year, while UNCG slides to 2-3. NC State now holds a 10-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools.
Junior Ben Zink and freshman James McGee grabbed the first doubles win for the Pack at No. 1, 8-4, over Andrey Bubnov and Arsel Kumdereli. Senior Andre Iriarte and sophomore Christian Welte guaranteed the doubles point at No. 2, taking down William Adeimy and Martin Redelinghuys, 8-4. Freshman Frideric Prandecki and graduate Daniel Schinke completed the sweep at No. 3 over Ian Conchar and William John, 8-5.
Welte flew past Conchar at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Iriarte quickly followed at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3, over Redelinghuys. Zink secured the Pack’s eighth win of the year by downing Kumdereli, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3.
McGee, in his third appearance of the season, dismissed Bubnov at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2, as Prandecki defeated Adeimy, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5. Schinke grabbed a come-from-behind win at No. 6 over John for the shutout, 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6).
NC State will return to the courts against No. 55 Old Dominion on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus.
