Cavaday, Weinacker Advance at ITA All-American Qualifying

Senior Nick Cavaday and junior Jay Weinacker both advanced to the second round of the ITA All-American Qualifying Bracket on Monday in Tulsa, Okla. Junior Derek Stephens, who won three matches over the weekend to join his teammates in the field, lost his match in three-sets to end an impressive run.
Cavaday, the No. 8 seed in the field, defeated Brad Cox of Kentucky in two quick sets, 6-3, 6-2. He advances to play Dmytro Petrov of Oklahoma St on Tuesday morning.
Weinacker downed Johnny Hamui of Florida with a tight second set after breezing through the first, winning 6-1, 7-5. Weinacker will face Jack Baker of South Alabama in the second round.
Stephens, who was playing his fourth match in three days, lost a close battle, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to Matt Thibaudeau of Alabama.
