LIVE STATS
Hoops for Hope is a basketball game centered around hope. Hope for early detection, hope for increased survival, hope for a cure. This year in America, more than 211,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 43,300 will die from the disease. One in seven women either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Chances are you know at least one person who has battled breast cancer. That woman could be your mother, sister, daughter, wife, dear friend, or in the case of the NC State family, Hall of Fame Coach Kay Yow.
Hoops for Hope is a very unique basketball game. Fans will be given a FREE t-shirt (while supplies last) to show their support for all the survivors and Coach Yow. A silent auction will take place prior to the game with highly coveted items such as a team signed Stanley Cup Champions Carolina Hurricanes jersey, a football signed by Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, items signed by athletes at NC State, and many other items donated by organizations wishing to show their support of Coach Yow.
Beginning one and half hours before tip-off, concourse displays will distribute information about early detection of breast cancer and promotional items such as pink wristbands, commemorative lapel pins and team posters – all just a sampling of the many items fans can expect to receive free at the game. Promotional items are provided by the more than 17 corporate sponsors who make the event possible.
