HAS ANNOUNCED HER
DECISION TO TURN
PROFESSIONAL AND PLAY
THE WTA TOUR FULL TIME
Former Wolfpacker and native New Zealander Shona Lee has officially announced her intention to play professional tennis. Currently competing worldwide, she is facing each new opponent with the hopes of being the next great female tennis athlete.
Holding strong and hoping to move higher in the ranks, Lee is positioned at No. 615 internationally in singles and No. 563 internationally in doubles.
With Lee's work ethic and determination noticed early by Coaches Hans Olsen and Mait DuBois, it was evident that she had big aspirations to enter the professional world of tennis.
Coach Mait DuBois strongly affirmed his awareness of Lee's lifelong desire, "When I went to New Zealand to talk to Shona about NC State, I sat down with her and her parents. We talked about her future. I promised Shona that our goal would be to help her play professionally, as she was struggling with the decision whether or not to go straight to the pros or to play collegiate tennis."
Now Shona has made that long-awaited step into the WTA. From her second family here at NC State we wish her all the best in her mathces. Coach DuBois concluded, "It makes us happy that we were able to help her with this dream."
