The NC State women’s tennis team will be hosting its annual Wolfpack Invitational at the JW Isenhour Tennis Center this Friday, Sept. 29, thru Sunday, Oct. 1. This will be the second tournament of the fall season and will result in an all-day, three-day event. There are 17 teams, including our NCSU Wolfpack team, competing.
The teams competing include: Appalachian State, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Howard, High Point, James Madison, Liberty, University of Richmond, Samford, University of North Carolina at Asheville, Wofford, Western Carolina, and Winthrop University.
This NC State Invitational is following the season opener at the St. Mary’s Classic tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. With a successful outing, the Wolfpack claimed 10 singles wins and five doubles victories on the road, led by freshmen Berkeley Brock and fellow freshmen Daria Petrovic. Brock had finished the tournament by winning the fourth flight singles consolation finals. Petrovic also finished earning a top spot as the number three finisher in flight one singles. Even the doubles teams had positive outcomes. Doubles duo Allison Barry and Agustina Arechavaleta traveled back to Raleigh, NC wining the consolation finals in their flight three doubles.
The women’s tennis team plans to use the experience they gained on the court two weeks ago this weekend. As practices are gearing more towards tournament play, all NC State fans should be expecting some great tennis in just a few days.
