RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2006-07 women’s basketball schedule on Friday, Aug. 18. The Wolfpack’s slate features no fewer than eight home games, which includes the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). NC State will also face two west coast teams, Arizona and UC Santa Barbara, along with neighboring South Carolina, Winthrop and East Carolina. Other non-conference opponents include Temple, Winthrop, Saint Joseph’s, Lehigh, Nebraska and Xavier. No fewer than seven of the Pack’s games will be regionally televised.
The season kicks off with a new event, featuring the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The Annual Red/White game will now feature both programs and is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
The Pack will then host EA Sports on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in its only exhibition game of the year.
NC State’s regular season opens with its participation in the 2006 Preseason WNIT on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. against High Point. A win in that game would advance NC State into the second round, which it will host, on Sunday, Nov. 12 or Monday, Nov. 13. The specific date and time will be announced following the Nov. 9th game.
The Wolfpack will host UNC Wilmington at the RBC Center on Friday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m., a game that will precede the NC State men’s game against Delaware State, scheduled for 8 p.m.
NC State opens its road schedule at Arizona, followed by a game at UC Santa Barbara over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Pack will then return to Reynolds Coliseum for a six-game homestand before heading to Florida for the State Farm Classic. The two-game tournament pits NC State against Nebraska on Thursday, Dec. 28. The Pack will then face either Florida or Alabama State on Friday, Dec. 29.
The ACC portion of the schedule begins on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Maryland. Before continuing with the conference docket, NC State will travel to Xavier on Sunday, Jan. 7.
